of theraputic touch done by 11-year-old Emily Rosa. Rosa's study found that TT practitioners
were unable to detect a human "energy field" at a rate different than chance.
April 14, 1935 -- The birthday of Erich von Daniken.
April 15, 1452 -- The birthday of Leonardo Da Vinci.
Apr 15, 1598 -- Edict of Nantes issued, which gave Huguenots equal political rights with Catholics in France and
limited free exercise of religion to a few classes.
April 26, 1956 -- The birthday of David Palmer, photographer, engineer, astronomer, skeptic, magician, and the producer of this calendar.
April 30, 1976 -- The beginning of the American Humanist Association annual convention, at which the Committee for the Scientific
Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP) is founded.
April, 1996 -- Physicist Alan Sokal publishes a parody of postmodernism scholarship called "Transgressing the Boundaries:
Toward a Transformative Hermeneutics of Quantum Gravity" in the Spring/Summer issue of "Social Text." The parody is
taken seriously by the editors of the journal and many in the PoMo community.
